Did you know that 49 educators in our area attended this year’s AWE Institute?
These dedicated educators chose to devote an entire week of their vacation to becoming better teachers at the 2011 Arts With Education (AWE) Institute at Walton Arts Center.
The AWE Institute, a dynamic learning retreat with a twenty year history at Walton Arts Center, helps educators improve their teaching practice by learning to use arts integration strategies to engage students in core subjects like literacy, history, math and science.
The forty-nine 2011 AWE Fellows will take new and exciting art strategies into their classrooms this year. Because of these teachers and their commitment to excellence, more than 1,500 students in our area will benefit from learning through the arts.

Munich Symphony – Mozart’s Requiem

Walton Arts Center's Baum Walker Hall
“I am extremely excited for the Munich Symphony and Gloriae Dei Cantores to perform Mozart’s Requiem here at Walton Arts Center. Both critically acclaimed ensembles are known for their richly intense performances and for their breadth of repertoire and musical dexterity. I have personally performed this music and I know it will be a real treat to sit back and listen to these fine musicians perform one of my absolute favorite Classical Choral Masterpieces.” – Jason Smith, Executive Assistant to the President/CEO of Walton Arts Center
