The
National Writing Project (NWP), founded in 1974, focuses the knowledge,
expertise, and leadership of our nation’s educators on
sustained efforts to improve writing and learning for all learners. In
partnership with Walton Arts Center,
Northwest Arkansas Writing Project at the University of Arkansas
teacher consultants created 3-5th grade lesson plans to
support teachers throughout the state improve student understanding of
Arkansas history. Lesson ideas that relate to the
Digging Up Arkansas themes of Communication, Cooperation, Courage
and Culture equip teachers to implement pre and post-activities in
their classrooms that engage students in writing.
