University of Arkansas Symphony Orchestra with Augusta Read Thomas

The culminating event of the residency week of Augusta Read Thomas, the 2010-2011 McIlroy Family Visiting Professor in the Performing and Visual Arts, was an Artosphere concert featuring a new work by Read. The University Symphony Orchestra, Schola Cantorum, and Master Chorale join forces for the world premiere of Floating Temples, written by Augusta Read Thomas especially for the University of Arkansas.


The DePue Brothers Band: Weapons of Grass Construction

The DePue brothers, a musical iconic family from Northwest Ohio (Bowling Green, to be exact) brought an ear-bending revelation to Artosphere 2011. These four violinist brothers encompass a vivid blend of bluegrass, classical, and rock genres.


Edens Edge at First Thursday Fayetteville and First Friday Bentonville

Three talented young musicians from Arkansas -- Hannah Blaylock, Dean Berner, and Cherrill Green -- have forged a unique and vibrant sound that honors country music’s roots while creatively pushing the envelope with their seasoned musicianship, dazzling harmonies and insightful songwriting. They brought their special sound to community arts celebrations in Fayetteville and Bentonville during Artosphere 2011.


Rani Arbo & daisy mayhem in Eureka Springs

A special Artosphere stage show dipped into country blues, vintage swing, modern songwriter fare, and Appalachian fiddle tunes and songs. This is a band that picks up what's lying around "from tin cans to traditional music" and creates something new.


Ozark Couture Fashion Show: Nature as Muse
The Bradberry Amphitheater and Rosen Memorial Rose Garden at the Walton Arts Center were the site of a free fashion show featuring the work of local designers Brook Benham, Caylan Hudgens, Cynthia Parker, Kata Mari, Leslie Pennel, Mark Hughes and Rosie Rose; the music of the Artosphere Festival Orchestra; and poetry readings by Clayton Scott, Kate Brown, Adam Douglas, Julie Jeannene, Cat Fury, Doug Sheilds and Ginny Masulo. The multisensory extravaganza finished with a trunk show sale. See the announcement of the show.


Tom Chapin at the Bentonville First Friday

Beloved singer/songwriter Tom Chapin performed a free concert for the whole family.
